Yup, she lost her first tooth at age 4. Well she kinda knocked it loose last week due to a fall off the monkey bars at school and it just fell out after a few days. She couldn't have been happier... I mean the tooth fairy is pretty awesome and all.

Well I have about 600 pictures from last week's vacation in Molokai with my mom, Aubrey, Tara & Stephanie. We spent 8 days on the island, 8 days that went by way too fast and now we're stuck back in snow country.... ugghhh. Princess Day

So the Paul Mitchell Salon/Academy in Reno had "princess" day over the weekend and of course Hayley and I had to take my favorite princess there for the royal treatment. When we first got there she was a little overwhelmed and didn't want to participate.
This is the face she makes when she's a bit shy or intimidated...
So we just left the salon and went to sushi instead. This is the face she makes when she wants me to stop taking pictures of her...

But after a good lunch she asked us to take her back to the salon because she was ready to get all princessed out by then. I had to laugh when the girl doing Aubrey's hair asked me if I wanted her to curl it. Um really? Can it even get any curlier?

I'm so glad we took her back because by the end of her royal treatment she was in heaven. I mean who doesn't love a tiara topped hair hair-do, hot pink nails and a makeup job? Don't worry, you won't be seeing her on Toddlers and Tiaras or anything like that. She felt pretty special posing with some of the errr... princesses?

Oh and a happy heart day to everyone! On the menu at our house... crab legs, garlic bread and asparagus. Is it dinner time yet?

Meyers Wine (& Food) Walk

Last night we had the 1st annual Meyers Wine Walk. It went a little something like this... 1st stop: my house for appetizers and well duh, wine.Then we layered up and headed on down the neighborhood. How adorable were the sparkling lemonade walkers/ cowboy partners?

2nd stop: Deb's house for soup & salad & of course more wine.

Then a little more walking in freezing temps. What a brilliant idea to plan a night walk in January huh? At least we made it home before all the snow came last night.3rd stop: Mackenzie & Josh's house for a grilled cheese sandwich bar, oh and more wine. Have you ever had a grilled cheese with brie, apples and honey on sourdough? YUM.

Elysa brought hair feathers so all the ladies got some hair bling.

Ok so then more walking took us to the 4th stop: Carson & Fawne's for Snuggler drinks, Heath Bar cheesecake and apple pie. Apparently I didn't take any pictures over there. I was too full to move at that point :)

Sounds like we're planning the next wine walk (or beach cruiser crawl) for sometime this summer. I love my neighborhood.

Last week my mom, Aubrey, Hayley and I took a little road trip up north to Eureka and Arcata (my hometown and college town). I hadn't been up there for 10 years since I graduated so I was definitely due for a visit. It was so good to see some old friends I haven't seen in a while and I loved taking Aubrey to all the places I used to go to growing up there. I miss living on the coast sometimes but I don't miss the rain and fog all that much (although it did give me a chance to wear my 50 cent garage sale rain boots).

I never seem to go out on New Year's and I think I'll be staying put this year too. Christmas Recital... Oh My.

Yesterday Aubrey danced in the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' recital for Marcia Sarosik's Dance Studio. She was so excited to get there until about 2 minutes before I parked and then she fell sound asleep. Oops... maybe we should have signed up for the earlier show. Anyhow, I let the car run for about 5 minutes in the Harrah's parking lot so she could get a quick cat nap but then it was time to wake her up so she could get her dance on.

So I volunteered to help the kiddos get ready backstage and hang out with them during the show which basically involved taking many many trips to the bathroom. At one point I had a 3 year old lock herself in the bathroom stall. She seriously couldn't understand me when I was trying to tell her to turn the knob the other way. After a few minutes of trying to get her out of there I just had her crawl underneath the small opening at the bottom of the stall door with about 30 seconds to spare before their dance started. Thank goodness she was a tiny little thing.

I'm still full 2 days later. Still sick with a bad cold too. Thanksgiving was so much fun this year (as it always is). There's nothing better than spending the day with friends, family & great food. As always, Thanksgiving was followed by an alarm clock going off at 4:00 am. That's right, Black Friday time. This year Lisa and I made it to the mall over an hour earlier than my mom, Patti & Mona which was unheard of until now. I think we made them proud. Good thing I scored 2 new pairs of pajama pants at Target this year because that's all I'll be wearing for the next few days until I kick this nasty cold that I've got going on. Alright, I'm off to make a fire, snuggle on the couch and watch a movie. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

A (Wet) Bridge School Concert

This past weekend we took a girls road trip to Mountain View for the 24th Annual Bridge School Benefit Concert. Yes Shoreline Amphitheatre is outdoors and yes it rained all day. But I'm not one to let a little rainstorm stop me from seeing Pearl Jam... oh and Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, Modest Mouse, Billy Idol, Jackson Browne, Kris Kristofferson, Emmy Lou Harris + more. We were well prepared for the day with 2 tarps, a tent rain fly, waterproof pants, ponchos, Sorels & Gor-Tex jackets. Good times as always.It's always fun to see how pictures turn out when a stranger uses your camera...

Hi all. I'm putting together a costume drive to benefit local families through the Tahoe Family Resource Center and Youth and Family Services. Halloween costumes can be rather pricey and they're usually only worn once so I figured I'd gather up some used children's costumes to donate. Signs & Stuff on Highway 4

Lisa and I took an overnight trip to Murphy's on Sunday to go see Willie Nelson play at a pretty sweet little outdoor amphitheatre at the Ironstone Vineyards Winery. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive on Highway 4 which consists of mostly a one lane road with a ton of switch backs on a mountainside with super scary cliff drop offs to the side. Beautiful drive, good times, great show. Here's a few shots from our mini road trip.

A nice little gas station bathroom door in the town of Arnold. It's hard to read it but the sign says "Wet Paint, Don't Touch!". Ha! I'm pretty sure that door hasn't seen any fresh paint in a long time.

September So Far

I sent my baby off to pre school today. Crazy. That kid is definitely not afraid of a new adventure, she was soooo excited. I could barely get her to hold still for a first day of school picture. We tend to stay in on major holidays around here in order to avoid the crowds but this year we decided to head to Timber Cove for the Labor Day fireworks since Aubrey has never seen them. I'm glad we ventured out, the crowds weren't bad at all and Aubrey loved the show (duh, what kid wouldn't?).

Goggles+ bathing suit that's 2 sizes too small + rain boots = perfect outfit for running through the sprinklers. I love when she dresses herself.

We've been busy welcoming Summer and finally enjoying some warm weather around here. Our yard is ready for some bbq's (oh wait it's broken) and kiddie pool parties so come on over for a visit. Oh and we planted a Red Sunset Maple and some Skyrocket Junipers along the back fence over the weekend- woo hoo! (probably not that exciting to you but it is to me).

My friend Sarah P. (I mean F.) stopped by with her cute little niece Sophia the other day.
Aubrey wasn't too excited about her new friend messing with her playhouse windows (somebody needs to learn how to play a bit nicer with her house guests)...

We camped out at the Big Meadow campground on Monday with a bunch of friends for Clay and Belinda's going away party. So much fun, can't wait to pack up the tent a few more times this summer.

Aubrey became a master rock climber and she made it home with only a few minor scratches.

Recital Time

Aubrey's first dance recital is tonight at Harrah's, so exciting! She'll be performing in 2 dances, one tap and one ballet. Miss Marcia let us take photos and videos of the dress rehearsal in the dance studio a couple of days ago so here's a sneak peak of tonight's action...

Here's their ballet routine on video (sorry about the poor quality, they never seem to upload very clear on blogger & I was standing in an awkward recording spot). Hopefully you can handle the cuteness! If you can't find Aubrey she's 3rd from the end, the one who stops and yawns in the beginning...

Oh and I think Aubrey is the youngest dancer in the entire show tonight- how cool is that? Hopefully she'll have fun! I know I will.

A Puppy, A Cousin & A Bake Sale

Ok so puppies are totally cute and all (especially the one below) but I still just prefer to have my friends bring their pups over to play instead of getting my own. I swear they are more work than babies. Here's a few pics of Aubs hanging with Steve, her new "best dog friend" as she likes to call him.

I told her to have fun chasing him around now before he's a giant 180 lb. Rottweiler who will knock her down just by walking near her. (Ha... I just noticed the nice doo doo pile in this next pic... another reminder of why I don't want a puppy quite yet.)

Cousin Sean has been in town for a few days so Aubrey has had fun bugging him, poking him, blaming her own toots on him & telling him "look at me, look at me" over and over again.

Sean also scored a larger than life baseball poster from the Turn that radiates toxic fumes like you wouldn't believe. We were getting lightheaded just walking past it. Fortunately it will be going home with him tomorrow :)

Speaking of the Turn, the bake sale was a success! Thanks to Lisa and Janel who did just about all of the work. Don't we look all domestic? I think the beer signs really tie the whole thing together. Oh and here's my child in a bar (for a good reason of course... she had help sell baked goods and model the hair clips that were for sale).

Playing Picture Catch Up

Okay so I finally have a few minutes to sit down and plug my camera into the computer to post some pictures of our eventful weekend. So here they are...

I love that Aubrey still thinks we can't see her if she can't see us. Peek-a-boo...

A little bit of Saturday afternoon fight club time with Gunni at Stephanie's 30th birthday party (while eating string cheese & fruit snacks)... We also got to inhale a few of these bad boys...

Saturday night was slumber party time at John and Stacey's vacation rental where we got to meet little 4 month old Charlotte for the first time. How awesome are those eyes? And don't you just want to squeeze those fabulous cheeks?! Oh and no that's not a rat tail, it's just Lisa's sweatshirt string...

Enough already with that flash in our faces, will you pleeeaase stop taking pictures of us?...

Sunday was baby shower time at my house for my friend Maggie who's having #3, her first boy :)

The kids seemed to have a pretty good time too, even though we had to break up a few minor fights (sharing issues)...

Easter So Far

It's not quite Easter yet but we've already had a good amount of egg related activities going on here. Dying eggs with Josiah last night...Hangin' at the college egg hunt this morning where we ran into a few friends...

There were no pictures taken with the Easter Bunny because Aubrey didn't think he was too cool and she freaked out a little when he came near. But for some reason she didn't mind the weird clown in a fat suit.

Oh and she's a master egg finder, this basket was way full by the time we were done. Looks like we'll be eating lots of egg salad this week.

Lovin' Alice

I've been waiting for the Mar. 30 un-anniversary release of Alice In Wonderland for weeks now so I had to buy it first thing yesterday. It was intended for Aubrey's Easter basket but yeah right like I could wait 5 days to watch it. I guess it was more of a present for me, oops. Anyhow, Aubrey's totally obsessed. She's on her 3rd viewing as I'm typing this (not that I want her to sit and watch movies all day but in our defense it is totally snowing outside and she's still fighting a cold so being lazy is allowed).

Oh and I really need to see the Tim Burton version. Like now.

Feelin' A Bit Ugghhhh

Oh that's right, I have a blog I'm supposed to keep up on.
Just don't have much to say/ now new pics to post for now.
Mainly because not much has happened around here.
Aubrey's been out with a bad cold for the past few days so there's been a lot of princess movie watching.
We'd rather be playing outside but we tried that and she just got worse.
I'm not feelin' too hot either.
Mainly because I feel like an out of shape, lazy mess of a being.
I seriously haven't worked out in like forever.
Summer's around the corner (I hope) so some changes are gonna be made around here.
You know... healthier diet, healthier habits, actually get some regular exercise, etc.
Right after I eat my left over pizza for breakfast.

Off the Hill Fun

Warm Sacramento sun + Fairytale Town + Avery's 1st birthday party = a super fun & much needed day trip. Hot mama Vanessa and her 1 year old birthday stud.
Oh and how did I not know about this Fairytale Town before? Aubrey was in heaven.

Hopefully we'll be able to go back soon for a trip to the zoo before it gets too stinkin' hot in Sac town.

A scene from my home office this afternoon... While I was busy working, Aubrey was busy reading books and singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to Scrappy Cat. You'd be amazed at what this cat puts up with. The poor thing is constantly getting her tail pulled, sat on, pushed around and dressed up by Aubrey. She also makes a pretty darn good pillow.

I busted out my DVD box set of Pee Wee's Playhouse episodes the other day and now Aubrey is obsessed. She prefers/ demands them over Saturday morning cartoons, which is fine by me.
Like mother like daughter. My brother and I used to wait anxiously all week for Saturday to arrive with a new episode. I freakin' love Pee Wee. Connect the dots... lalalalala....

Oh and how about those tangles? Some days we just have to put off combing her hair in order to keep the morning peace around here.

Jeff Bridges has to be one of the coolest guys I uh... don't know. Even though I haven't seen Crazy Heart yet I know he deserved it because well... how could he not? I feel like I can now let go of the grudge I've been holding against "thee" Acadamy for not giving the Oscar to Joaquin Phoenix a few years back. Now I'm just waiting for them to give John C. Reilly the best actor of all time award.
