Notes on a 4 Month Old

Here's how it went down at baby girl's 4 month doctor visit today. The nurse and doctor both mentioned a couple of times that they could NOT believe Aubrey was only 4 months because she looks like the 8 or 9 month olds that come in. Then they proceeded to measure her length which turned out to be 27.5 inches, which yes, is the length of most babies that are more like 9 months, not 4. She has also doubled her birth weight and now tips the scales at a whopping 16 lbs. 5 oz. So basically she's WAY off the charts for her height but her weight is perfectly normal for her size (in other words she's big but not fat big). I think those "charts" are pretty lame anyways. So now I just have to wonder if she'll slow down at some point or if we have a basketball player on our hands. In other exciting news, she's also rolling over and laughing out loud. Hearing that baby giggle is the highlight of my life right now- melts my heart.

Yeah, those charts do suck. The worst thing you can do to your new mommy psyche is compare your baby to others. Later on it will affect her, too. Nurture her well and have confidence that you will grow a beatiful human being.

She is amazing! That photo of her made me melt! If you ever need help honing her basketball skills... send her over to hang out with the Pakes family! I know a thing or two about being bigger than everyone else. :)

Thanks for the update! Being tall is totally awesome, just ask Rachelle! We can see over everyone's heads at concerts.
